'Give to the Max Day' Donations Top $18 Million

In the last 24 hours, Minnesotans dug deep and generously supported various causes.

Give to the Max Day wrapped up at midnight and brought in more than $18.2 million. More than 120,000 people donated to their favorite causes throughout the day, according to the GiveMN.org website.

Nonprofits across the state are asking people to donate Thursday for Give to the Max Day, which is Minnesota’s biggest day of giving.

From education to the environment, Minnesotans can choose exactly what and who they would like to support.

A large donation will be made Tuesday for the family of a fallen officer.

Mendota Heights police officer Scott Patrick was killed during a traffic stop in late July.

On Tuesday, the group Wives Behind the Badge will hand off school supplies and donations they’ve gathered for the two daughters he leaves behind as well as other children in the community.

Davanni’s is kicking off its fifth annual food drive Monday.

The restaurant is teaming up with the Emergency Foodshelf Network to help stock shelves for those in need. The organization says the donations are needed even more during the summer months to help children who are out of school for the summer and don’t have access to a school lunch program.
